Fox hates that the NFL chose Bad Bunny for the Super Bowl half time show.

In 2024, when comedian Tony Hinchcliffe made racist remarks about Latinos at a Trump rally in New York City, referring to Puerto Rico as “a floating island of garbage,”

Des goûts et des couleurs, on ne discute pas. But if you believe that you are the standard on which all "good taste" needs to be measured, taste can turn into disgust and discrimination of "bad taste" really quickly. It's all really simplistic, stupid and very human.

In matters of taste, more than anywhere else, all determination is negation; and tastes are perhaps first and foremost distastes, disgust provoked by horror or visceral intolerance ('sick-making') of the tastes of others. 'De gustibus non est disputandum': not because 'tous les gouts sont dans la nature', but because each taste feels itself to be natural-and so it almost is, being a habitus--which amounts to rejecting others as unnatural and therefore vicious. Aesthetic intolerance can be terribly violent. [...] The most intolerable thing for those who regard themselves as the possessors of legitimate culture is the sacrilegious reuniting of tastes which taste dictates shall be separated.

- Pierre Bourdieu, Distinction (1979)

... but the few commentators that I heared being dismissive about this, are mostly people that are angry that he has a negative opinion on Trumps' way of dealing with immigrants... and by extend, people that aren't white. And for the cultish following that Donald has, you just can't have any criticism. 🤷‍♂

The other criticism was, that he's a latino... which is just xenophobia. A trait that the MAGA crowd has elevated to a virtue. 🤷‍♂

As Tommy Lahren demonstrates in this clip:

I hadn't heard of Bad Bunny before, but it turns out he had the #1 streaming album of 2020, 2022, & 2023. The NFL is in the business of entertaining people (mostly young men) and thereby delivering eyeballs to advertisers. I suspect they know what they're doing.

@jshm2 that would be suicide, certainly career-wise and perhaps even literally. We know there are nutjobs out there...
