To encourage them to hire American workers.
Software companies were notorious for hiring workers from abroad and underpaying them, all the while moaning about the "lack of skilled workers" in America.
In programming, there were a lot of programmers, so I can't believe
a) that they were ALL "unskilled", and
b) AMAZINGLY, foreign countries had AMAZING programmers who just happened to be willing to work for FAR less...
lmao

@SomeMichGuy After Trump raised the H-1B visa fee to $100,000 annually, major companies like Meta and Microsoft reportedly held urgent meetings on Saturday, urging their H-1B visa holders to either stay in the US for at least 14 days or return within 24 hours to avoid possible denial of re-entry.

@SomeMichGuy All this means is that more companies will have remote workers rather than having them in the U.S.Some will relocate entire departments and entities overseas. Many already are doing so right now some got colleagues in Mexico, India & Poland. They all say you gotta come visit lol.So I won’t have to press 2 for English?
