Prison1203 So now the company has an extra cost... what do companies do with extra costs? They'll make the consumers of their products pay for it, by highering the prices of their end product.
Sony on Wednesday said it is bumping up the price of PlayStation 5 video game consoles by $50 in the United States due to a "challenging economic environment."
Tariffs imposed by President Donald Trump hike the cost of goods brought into the US, leaving companies like Japan's Sony to decide whether to pass that on to consumers.

That's from 1 day ago. PepsiCO also announced they were going to higher the prices because of tariffs. From the same article:
US snack giant PepsiCo could increase prices of its soft drinks about 10 percent to mitigate effects of US tariffs, particularly those on imported aluminum used to make soda cans, according to trade magazine Beverage Digest.
Wallmart already wanted to raise the prices... which is all really normal, knowing that Wallmart has kept up the underclass of the US with cheap import goods. It's the only way how you can underpay your workers, and still guarantee some quality of life. But those days are over now, so Trump had to urge Wallmart to "eat the tariffs" in march 2025. As if Wallmart is some kind of social service, that delivers goods at the same price because the governement says so. Sadly for Donald, Wallmart has a profit model.
WASHINGTON, May 17 (Reuters) - U.S. President Donald Trump said on Saturday that Walmart <WMT.N> should "eat the tariffs" instead of blaming duties imposed by his administration on imported goods for the retailer's increased prices.
His comments were in response to the world's largest retailer saying this week it would have to start raising prices later this month due to high tariffs.

Which is all pretty normal for anyone not hooked on the ministry of TruthSocial. But again, in a few months where there is more empircal data on an administration that is 7 months old, I'll try to come back to you and have a good laugh at your expense. Because anyone that thinks about this for 2 minutes, would figure it out, but you aren't able too and you are still smug while being wrong.
But at least you agree with my original statement:
Me:@Prison1203 Never seen a republican voter being so happy about a blatant tax increase.
You:@Kwek00 what tax increase would thst be?
Me: @Prison1203 The tariffs you are talking about. [...]
You:@Kwek00 [...], the companies that are receiving goods from overseas pay the tariff, not the consumer, [...]
1. It's a tax, that companies/consumers are paying
2. It's a tax that was implemented by this administration
3. You are cheering for the republican candidate
4. You are really happy about it.
🤷♂
Nice try though.
