Trump ran on saving American jobs from immigrants, and then hired an immigrant to fire Americans.

I don’t know if I should 😃 or 🥲

You dont have to do anything.. You dont live there. Or I would be advising you leave..😷
Wiseacre · F
@whowasthatmaskedman I have dual citizenship
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@Wiseacre I am reminded that back in the 1980s there was this investment vehicle called a "Junk Bond" because it had no real backing and was effectively worthless. I suspect America is in the process of creating the "Junk Citizenship".. Maybe you have some british connections you can leverage to get dual citizenship there? I have that..😷

@Wiseacre Well at least you have the Canadian one to fall back on..😷

@whowasthatmaskedman indeed, it’s a gentler society.

@Wiseacre And clearly smarter. The ability to pivot a whole international trade profile in a few years speaks volumes...😷

@whowasthatmaskedman I love the U.S. I have everything I ever wanted. It's the greatest country on earth, which
is why everyone wants to come here.
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@DogMan Sorry. But they just arent. Not only are America crops rotting in thr fields with no farm labour, there is an increasing number of professional americans packing up and sayinjg goodbye, in favour of a place where their kids have a better future.😷

@whowasthatmaskedman You are delusional. American crops are at an all time high. You must be talking about California.

I grew up in Iowa, and still go back. Our crops are doing great across the midwest. The only thing that creates a
problem sometimes is lack of rain. The real farms in America, do not rely on illegal immigrants.

I heard some pot farms in California lost some people, but the migrant workers are still working.

I don't know where you get your info, but it is WRONG!

Corn and Soybeans are the biggest crops.

Corn production for grain is forecast at 16.7 billion bushels, up 13 percent from 2024, which if realized would be the
highest production for grain on record for the United States
. Based on conditions as of August 1, the yield is forecast at a
record high 188.8 bushels per acre, up 9.5 bushels from last year’s 179.3 bushels. Total planted area, at 97.3 million acres,
is up 2 percent from the previous estimate and up 7 percent from the previous year. Area harvested for grain is forecast at
88.7 million acres, up 2 percent from the previous forecast and up 7 percent from the previous year.
Soybean production for beans is forecast at 4.29 billion bushels, down 2 percent from 2024. Based on conditions as of
August 1, yields are expected to average a record high 53.6 bushels per acre, up 2.9 bushels from 2024
.

Your CNN link is about two North Carolina teachers who decided to leave the U.S. for jobs in Morocco, that bastion of north-African stability.

And the article also references a "growing stampede" of Americans seeking to leave. When I clicked on the "growing stampede" link, this is what I found:

"London CNN —

A record number of Americans applied for British citizenship between January and March, according to the first set of data covering the start of Donald Trump’s second presidential term.

Some 1,931 Americans put in an application, the most since records began in 2004 and a jump of 12% on the previous quarter, figures from the UK Home Office showed Thursday. Applications had already soared during the October-December period, which coincided with Trump’s re-election."

HOLY SMOKES! 😳

1,931 out of 342 million! 😳

Does the UK have enough land area
to absorb such a "stampede"...? 😂 😂 😂

@Thinkerbell And the records go waaaay back to 2004, Wow, that's a long time to go back,..... if we were teenagers.

Next thing you know, the 1900's will be around the time of the crusades

@DogMan Uh oh. Hard facts.
Wiseacre · F
News to me. @Thinkerbell
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@DogMan Yes. a quick google or two points up the Iowa corn situation. I just hope their corn will find a market when its harvested..😷
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@Thinkerbell A few points there. First, you are talking citizenship the very final act in departing ones old country. There is likely to be years of lag between arriving in a new country and applying, unless one is a refugee. And I dont think Americans have gone quite that far yet. Second. Britain is a small nation attached to the Old world. There are other options where development is faster and easier and there is more room. And western culture is more valued. Asia and oceania offer many options, including my own country..😷

@whowasthatmaskedman

But nevertheless, the examples I cited are what your link gave as evidence.

It was CNN being CNN, Jake Tapper notwithstanding. 😂

@Thinkerbell You don't have to go overseas for socialism!! tRump is implementing it right here in the good ol' US of A!!

May 23, 2019 — Trump Gives Farmers $16 Billion in Aid Amid Prolonged China Trade War
That was from 2019, and it followed $12 billion in 2018. $28 billion for two million farms; a $14,000 giveaway per farm. Pure socialism!! Although it might be equally fair to call it purchasing votes.

This year, tRump's BBB cuts SNAP by over $100 billion and increases farm subsidies by about $60 billion. Is it more socialism or more vote buying?? You decide!!!

Thinkerbell · 41-45, F
@ElwoodBlues

As is your partisan wont, Ellie, you are not telling the whole truth.
There was nothing unusual about those farm subsidies in 2018 and 2019, as a glance at the chart below will show.

Then COVID came along, and guess what else? That's right, a Democrat-majority House, followed by non-compos-mentis Biden as prez, and farm subsidies spiked, and didn't get back to normal until 2022, and stayed there after the election of a Republican majority in the House.

"And the codger never faltered, never once the left-line altered,
Always fudged and always paltered..."
DogMan · 61-69, M
@ElwoodBlues Wow....14,000 dollars per farm. What will they do with all that money Trump gave them? 😉

I wonder how much the Green New Deal would have cost per tax payer. Any Ideas?
@Thinkerbell says

I notice that you're not denying it's tRumpist socialism🤣😂
Actually, there WAS something unsual about those farm subsidies. They expanded the ceiling for farm subsidies; hence the spike during the tRump Covid years. They also included for the first time a "Market Facilitation Program" that would directly pay for lost sales due to "trade disputes." That one is particularly socialist!!

Of course the biggest form of socialism under tRump is corporate socialism. Because who doesn't feel sorry for the oil & gas stockholders??

Various tax allowances contribute the the indirect subsidies. But the largest indirect subsidy involves the societal costs of fossil fuel-related pollution, climate change, and related health problems, which are not reflected in the price of these fuels. And the more tRump ramps down environmental regulations, the larger the oil & gas corporate subsidy becomes.

@DogMan Did you ever wonder about EPA "superfund" sites? These are places where industries created terrible environmental messes and then went bankrupt, leaving society to bear the expenses of cleanup. If the specific corporation isn't paying the price, then you and I are paying it one way or another.
