America: Why didn't you vote?

Each day I read the news headlines or hear on TV what new and despicable act Donald tRump has committed to embarrass his country while acting OUTSIDE of the oaths and mandate of his office and at his own whim and egregiousness.
How such an embarrassing person continues to hold office without criticism or sanction tells me much about American pride - and what level it has allowed itself to deteriorate to.
Where were the sensible people who didn't vote when the past election was held? Why does this farce of statesmanship continue to rule your country?

I voted, but with the electoral system that we have, my vote in Texas never counts because it is a red state.

I've recently discovered that some Americans actually move to States that are red or blue, mainly to be among like-minded Americans of the same color so to speak, but also to not have their vote silenced by the opposite majority like you describe your own situation to be.

@NativePortlander1970 Yup.... So: It's up to your reps and senators to change that (Good luck).

@exexec Sorry, I need a bit of help understanding that statement.

The Problem
For "winner take all" states (which is most), winning by even a single vote gives the winner all of the electoral votes.

So liberals in TX--like conservatives in CA--essentially feel that any of the national votes are meaningless in terms of THEIR votes.

The Answer
Proportional wins would help, but direct election would make EVERY vote count. Liberals in TX and conservatives in CA would have their votes counted, so it would increase the desire to participate / the vote turnout.

It would also end up in reporting on parties other than the main two.

It would make "one person, one vote" a REALITY in our national elections, getting rid of the vote magnification of small states (the electoral vote ALWAYS includes 2 for the Senators and 1 for each Representative, so even a state with ONE resident would get THREE electoral votes...!).

Another Thought
If we put that through and fixed the Senate at 100 ppl, and made it representative like the House, that would be a huge good thing.
