US President Donald Trump says the opportunity for Russia to play at the 2026 World Cup could be an "incentive" to end the war in Ukraine.

Hells bells - something sensible came out of his mouth - Am I on the right planet ??

You could be on the right planet, but you're not on Earth. The 2026 World Cup didn't just become known. It hasn't been an incentive before. And, why should their bad behaviour be rewarded? Finally, Putin will get more mileage out of promoting Russia as a martyr for its own nationalism.

Before reentering Earth, remember to allow time to readjust to the atmosphere and gravity.

@Captain NATO has been moving closer to the Russian border for decades, and training Nazi troops on Ukrainian soil was the last straw. Putin had to take a stand!

@Ferise1 What NATO does or doesn't do is not putin's business.

NATO is a defensive organisation... his only problem with NATO is that it stops him from widening his murderous aggression against his neighbours.

Hilariously, because of 'taking his stand' he has more than doubled russia's border with NATO 😂

@newjaninev2 While everything you say is true, it is understandable that Russia would not see it that way. Remember they have been invaded by states of Europe several times in history.

@Captain russia's neighbours can all recount histories of being invaded... by russia.

russia... always playing the victim.

That doesn't work anymore. Now we see, and now we know.

@newjaninev2 True, its been mutual brutality all around Europe Historically. The welsh buried the hatchet long ago. The Irish seem to have buried the hatchet. The Socts seem to have toned it down a bit only in recent times (since they got fed up with the SNP I think), but with many of the rural French its still relentless - away form the northern coasts. You look all around Europe and you see the same. Dutch & Germans is another classic. The point is you have to move on, and we did not with Russia, so its lapsed into that old antagonism, whereas most of Europe has become happy with most of its neighbours.
