A couple of thoughts on trump and the Pope

Having heard how trump will attend the Popes funeral, I am wondering just how far trump will go to make this all about him.. I am also wondering about the back room politics going on from other nations NOT to be seated near him..
Finally. If opposition to trump inside Amrica is genuine. Here is a real opportunity to have his return flight diverted to ElSalvador.. or Venezuela. Or Lapland. Terra del Fuego. Anywhere really...No reason required...😷

I wouldn’t even have guessed that they even met, but okay if he wants to pay his respects. Why is the funeral so soon after his death 🤔.

@Gingerbreadspice The catholic church has a whole set of rites/rituals associated with the death of a pope. It's mostly symbolic.

Washington Post, which seems to be keeping track of these things, says this aligns with the typical timeframe of four to six days between the death of a pope and his funeral.

Trump met the Pope at least once, when he brought Melania for a visit, because she thinks she's a devout Catholic. 🤣
@Northwest 4-6 days is almost instantly. It takes me longer than that to plan a shopping trip.

@Gingerbreadspice Remember the catholic church has almost infinite financial resources and gets massive tax breaks so it can do anything straight away.

The dean of the college of Cardinals is in charge of making sure there's a funeral plan, and it remains current. That would be Cardinal Giovanni Battista Re.

The Pope himself, wrote and approved the latest version of the plan.

Cardinal Giovanni Battista Re will also preside over the Conclave.

@Gingerbreadspice the only reason why he’s going, is so he can say that he got the last word in and no back talk from the Pope.
