@specman ...or did, when we were a reliable ally, rather than a fringe Right Fascist state.

@specman you don't understand NATO. The US wanted to place military bases all over Europe in order to promote her Imperialist Project and maintain global dominance as a superpower. The US has 800 military bases all over the world. By joining NATO countries gave you permission to set up YOUR military facilities on THEIR soil. What pisses me off about you guys is you think the USA was a reluctant NATO member who really didn't want to have a military presence all over the world. YOU wanted to be a part of NATO because you benefitted HUGELY from being the dominant voice in the organisation. Trump has twisted the narrative yet again. Why do you believe everything the guy says?

@specman Dude if you're convinced that all those bases were built out of generosity because the rest of the world is too lazy to defend itself, frankly you've understood nothing about how your country functions. Unsurprisingly, as your modern political class seems to have completely forgotten about that too, and in a couple of weeks has burnt 80+ years of relationship and influence building.
The entire country economy is built upon being the most influential, stable military power that most other countries will want to depend on. Undo that, remove the stability and remove the influence and the whole thing collapses on its own. Public debt alone hasn't imploded purely because the USD is the world's reserve currency, and that was because the US was perceived as stable and "too big to fail". Your entire military capacity goes down the drain too, the moment a default happens.

@Elessar Thank you for trying to explain that El Dildo can lose / IS losing all our power.
