Rep. Bennie Thompson says he'd take a Biden pardon after Trump's Jan. 6 jail threat

WASHINGTON – Democratic Rep. Bennie Thompson, former chair of the House Jan. 6 committee, said Thursday that he would accept a pre-emptive pardon from President Joe Biden out of fear that President-elect Donald Trump might target him with a criminal investigation.
“It's his prerogative. If he offers it to me or other members of the committee ... I would accept it, but it's his choice,” Thompson said during an appearance on CNN Thursday morning.
Biden is said to be weighing preemptive pardons for a slew of figures he believes could become targets of criminal prosecutions under Trump’s next administration, after the former president suggested during the presidential campaign he would enact revenge on his opponents if elected again.
Thompson led the House committee that investigated Trump’s role in the deadly Jan. 6, 2021 attack on the U.S. Capitol. The committee’s findings alleged that Trump had “engaged in a criminal conspiracy to defraud” the country.
Trump said during an interview with NBC News’ Meet the Press on Sunday that some members of the House Jan. 6 committee should “go to jail.”

tRUMP is nothing but a FRAUD, GRIFTER, AND FELON. The cowardly draft dodger belongs in prison.
He bullied the cowardly Republicans into helping him evade Justice.
They are all a disgrace to the Party of Lincoln & Reagan.
