Obstacle to the Heritage Foundation - the Trump brothers

The Heritage Foundation has made no secret of the 2025 Project, a plan to appoint conservatives to the federal civil service if Trump wins a second term. However, one obstacle could be Donald Jr. and Eric Trump, who have been tasked with vetting any potential appointments. While the Heritage Foundation is focused on ideology, the Trumps are looking at loyalty to Donald Trump as the main criterion.

Top Trump aides Susie Wiles and Chris LaCivita have already said that "any personnel lists, policy agendas, or government plans published anywhere are merely suggestions. Policy recommendations from external allies are just that鈥攔ecommendations." Don Jr. recently told the New York Post that he plans to be "very active" in the transition, and said he hopes people such as former director of national intelligence John Ratcliffe and former White House aide Cliff Sims are involved. He said he wanted to make sure "we stop some of the D.C. swamp rats and the swamp creatures from getting in there and doing their thing."

Picking people for their devotion to Trump rather than their policy positions or competence suggests that a second Trump term won't advance a conservative agenda very effectively - which is a good thing. As before, we'll be protected from the worst of Trump's malevolence by his sheer incompetence.

At one level I am sure this is important as it only cements in place the corruption and anti-intellectual bias that is driving America back to irrelevence. But on the broader scale its just a committee trying to favourably organise the deck chairs on the Titanic. So how much shoule we really care???馃樂
