As I understand, Boris' opponents are like democrats here.
So, when Boris was spotted at some party without a mask during the pandemic, it was presented as if he committed high treason. He has suffered months / years of shameful treatment from political opponents and media. And leaving is likely the best thing he could do for his country.

@Budwick I learned a bit more this AM.
Apparently, Boris is what we would call a RINO.
And, was caught in a series of lies.
And promoting a sleaze bag.
