I remember when President Obama was elected…

November 2008, As I tend to do around Election Day, I stopped watching tv and stayed offline, figured I’d find out the results afterwards, when it was fact, without torturing myself.

I didn’t have to watch tv or go online that night. I could hear people outside cheering. I called my parents and my mother was so happy she could hardly speak.

The next day I went to work and about 90% of my class were wearing those iconic Obama "Hope" tee shirts. Some of those wearing them were a pleasant surprise. A few other students were obviously not happy about the election results, so I tried to keep on the topic of the training for the day.

I also remember when Mr. Obama returned to the city recently and pretty much received a hero’s welcome.
Not to forget the magnificent Michelle Obama who is the perfect half of a powerful tandem.

From an outsiders point of view, Obama was a breath of fresh air that American politics needed

@cd4259 This is true! A more civil time.

This is an exciting time just heard on CNN that Harris was leading Trump by three points in today’s poll in IOWA. Sounds like a harbinger of what is next!
@Pfuzylogic

Fingers crossed

@Pfuzylogic I'm in a red state. They will find a way to rat eff election results that don't go their way.

Go Colin Allred!

As a native Chicagoan, seeing Grant Park lit up for his victory speech was something amazing. From 2006-2009 I was deeply involved in the Democratic Party in Wisconsin. I did voter protection that night at a polling place and they called us off at 8pm as the polls closed. The national boiler room knew. Such a rewarding night on infinite levels.

Hope all that have worked so hard for Kamala get the same feeling Tuesday
@luckranger71 Me, too.

I was just saying earlier today how much I miss Obama 🥰
I remember that the first international trip he did was to Egypt. And there was this silly rumor that he is a Muslim and would fix the middle east etc. I was so young yet I never believed anything without evidence, you'd be really surprised how grown ups believe anything they hear without thinking. Like this rumor that Michael Jackson became Muslim and was actually killed for joining Islam 😅

@HijabaDabbaDoo Foreign policy in the shadow of 9/11. 😳
And his father was Muslim, although he was raised Christian, by his mother and her family.

He has only aged like fine wine and is hitting the campaign trail hard for Harris

I remember watching the results in 2008 and it was an exciting time. I look forward to the US voting in Kamala Harris.

I am worried about what’s going to happen though when Trump loses.

I liked him, he was very diplomatic.

@bijouxbroussard Yes. I thought 2016 would damage the Republican Party to the point that they would have to rebuild, start listening to the people. But they had that one Trump card. Someone that could double down on decades of R lies. Someone who could lie, get caught and cover that lie with a new lie. Someone who could win because he was totally imoral.
