Do right-wingers actually think Hitler and the Nazis were socialists because “socialist” is in the name?

Do they know why the Nazis called their party “socialist”?

If a name is synonymous with ideology, then that must mean Antifa really is antifascist and anyone who opposes them is a fascist. I’m sure these same people would agree with that, no?

There are different types of socialism. You have utopian socialism. You have libertarian socialism (anarchism). You have international authoritarian socialism (communism). You have international democratic socialism (socialdemocracy). And you have national socialism.

National socialism did not happen only in Nazi Germany. You have it also in today's China, and it existed in Egypt under Nasser, in Libya under Gaddafi or in Argentina under Peron. All of them with different characteristics according to the culture of every nation. It is national, after all.

@Cierzo But what makes “national socialism” socialist?

That is what the Nazis called themselves. I am not convinced that their economic ideology had much in common with anything else called “socialism”. As opposed to say, the “corporate socialism” of Peronism.
@SW-User Don’t listen to him, he doesn’t know what he is talking about as you can easily see from the profile photo. Nazis might be called socialists because they didn’t entirely believe in free markets as the right tends to nowadays. But they imprisoned people that would be considered socialists by today’s standards. And Peron was also not a socialist whatsoever, he was right wing and some scholars consider him to be even fascist. He had a proven admiration for Mussolini.

@SaoirsePrend Everyone I disagree with is a fascist 🤣.
And yes, I am with Russia and I am not hiding it.

@SW-User There was central planning.
@Cierzo You’re taking this to the extreme, there are scholars that link Peron with fascism and not myself or you. We are just random people on the internet after all, nothing that we say here has a value.
And Russia is going to need your support (and a lot more) in order to get back from this. So you should likely find another country to support, one that preferably does better against third world armies like Ukraine.
@Cierzo Looking up, there are sources from the University of Chicago that describe Peronism as fascism, so Top 5 universities in the world. I doubt your education (or mine for that matter) includes institutions of this calibre.

@SaoirsePrend China and Iran are in my list too. Of course degenerate cesspools like Canada or Sweden are not.
