Do right-wingers actually think Hitler and the Nazis were socialists because “socialist” is in the name?

Do they know why the Nazis called their party “socialist”?

If a name is synonymous with ideology, then that must mean Antifa really is antifascist and anyone who opposes them is a fascist. I’m sure these same people would agree with that, no?

They also have to conveniently forget that neo Nazis are amongst their ranks lol as seen with that unite the right rally

They will also claim how the Democrats started the KKK. Sure, they started it, when that party was socially conservative at that time. They conveniently ignore party realignment that now sees the Republican party being the home of disaffected white racist groups.

They always project their own bigotry, etc onto others

@deadgerbil Yeah, it's never been clear to me how conservative Southern Democrats are supposed to have been leftists. Lol. Both parties used to be more mixed ideologically and weren't firmly "left" and "right" until the 1980s.

What I'm finding in common with these two claims is they both reveal a lack of understanding of history. 🤷‍♂️

@SW-User lack of history leads to them saying we're the party of Lincoln while flying Confederate flags lol
@deadgerbil No one has ever been able to explain that.
@deadgerbil Democrats were the real racists because they fought for slavery a hundred years ago, now excuse me while I wave my confederate flag.
