Society has become so cold and insensitive and untrusting. We're even afraid to smile back at people, for fear they have an alterior motive in mind. This is really sad. It takes no effort at all to simply smile at someone, and it doesn't cost a thing. It may actually make somebody's day. I wish more people would smile at others but of course that determines the environment you are in as well. You know when the location you are in is trustworthy enough to smile at a stranger. The grocery store and Walmart, I think are okay haha. That doesn't mean we have to engage in a whole conversation, if we're not in the mood.
