One of the diners I frequent just comped my brunch for Christmas.

Last year, one of the other customers at the diner overheard that it was my birthday and paid for my meal.

I have paid for other customers. Most notably a couple of young men with toddlers. I really admired the way they were keeping the toddler corralled from disturbing other patrons, while still letting them explore some of the attractions in the diner. You usually see one extreme or the other: hard, sit-in-your-seat-and-be=quiet discipline or free-range, no limits.

I make it a habit to occasionally directly tip the bus staff supporting the server, never relying on the server tips being shared. This one Latina was so surprised when I slipped her a tip, that she wasn't sure she had properly thanked me in her limited English. So as I was walking to my car, she came running after me and had gone to her cellphone translate app and typed out her extreme appreciation. Felt good making her day.

I love this type of stuff.
I always keep cash in my phone case for shit like this.
$20 bucks here to help someone get the few extra items they need, sometimes l leave a tenner on the counter for kids who have been sent to get the bare basics like bread and milk....so they can get a treat.

I trutly believe in what goes around, comes around.

Like today - at the bottle shop, there was a young woman with a carer....and it was her birthday.
She wanted to get something to drink to celebrate.
On the counter was a packet of berry tequila shots - so i put one in her bag before she left, and added it to my puchase.

Its small stuff.

But its lasting smiles😊

The nicest thing I have done lately revolves around my sister. My sister has an immunodeficiency that requires very expensive Medine and blood transfusions twice a month. She has to have a special natural organic foods diet as well. She makes decent income but the medication costs and treatments to live keep her on a tight budget.

So, being retired and living on forestry farm I own and a hunter. On December 4th, 2025, I shot a deer for her, took it to be processed at the processors, and once it has been processed I will take her the entire processed deer meat to her home a couple hours away from me. I text her that night with a picture of the deer and I and said, "Hey I got your deer to fill the freezer I bought you". She was so excited and tickled when I told her the entire deer is hers.

That cuts her organic meat costs down to a minimal amount for the whole next year. Meaning she will not have to buy any organic pasture raised beef for an entire year.

The lady before me at the grocery store was frantic when her SNAP card was empty during the shutdown. She had stuff but not enough on her card to cover everything. I asked the cashier to void the sale and refund the SNAP card. I paid for her stuff plus some candy her kid wanted from the checkout line. I've been on benefits long ago. And that shutdown was not the lady's doing. "I don't know who you are. I'll probably never see you again. Have a nice day."
