This month in 1814, the British walked into Washington DC, the officers ate a meal in the Whitehouse. Then they burned it to the ground.

They were celebrating decisively defeating an American invasion of Canada. They’d never planned the counter attack would be so successful. So sort of ideas they sacked and burned the enemy capital.

I think if it happened tomorrow 50% of the US would be okay with it. The change of regime you peasants need so badly.

@Gibbon

Actually, the battle of New Orleans was fought in January of 1815, after the peace treaty ending the war had already been signed, but word hadn't reached New Orleans yet.

@Thinkerbell but, Bell, I have to go with the song lyrics. They matched his post. What can I do? I couldn't let old prune face get away with this post.

The British were mad because it didn’t have a ballroom!

No, I think it's more like 95% of the population that'd be okay with it. Don't mistake attitudes toward the president with attitudes toward the federal government in general.

Maybe if we offered to do the same to Ottawa, we could make it happen...

Honestly if a bunch if Canadians stormed the white house and took the piece of shit out I'd be the first to start singing Oh Canada at the top of my lungs
