he pretended to run for president - and that was one of his ideas - let people have all the guns they wanted - just lock up the bullets.

@nylonscape I'm not a believer in gunfree zones. Ban guns, or bullets, and only the people who ignore bans (ie criminals) will have them, and they will go to their nearest gunfree zone like they always have historically and wreak mayhem safely. But put in a vouch system and you get 2 benefits. Upstanding citizens have a higher chance of getting guns than social misfits. And when a gun has been detected in the use of criminal activity, you flag both the perpetrator and 2 of their potential buddies for scrutiny.

I think it was Chris Rock who said it, to paraphrase...give guns away for free and charge $5000 for a bullet.

The responsibility would be tied the gun rather than the owner. If a weapon is sold on Craigslist, it's still under the responsibility of whoever officially owned it last.

And the man who shot the MP in England made his own gun.
So none of this would stop someone determined to cause harm.

Arnold yes I am not saying we don't have the odd gun crime but usa school killings all the time and all you hear is shootings in usa

sounds good - but who's going to track the sale? you don't have to register them like you do a car

the car registration model is just what I was thinking about. Maybe that's what should be introduced
