Happiness on a Rope

And when I looked for happiness
I had surely found
That happy wasn't inside of me
So happy was not around

I tried to act in all the ways
That a happy person would
But happy never touched my soul
In any way that's good

In the end I came to think
That happy wasn't meant
For a guy such as me
Who's feeling all were spent

Though I knew I liked to see others
Filled with happy emotions
It's just that it's not meant for me
Because my happy was simply broken

I held onto a hope inside
I kept it alive for many years
But all that's happy seemed to drown
Overcome by all my tears.
