I Am Trying to Find Happiness

I'd like to say something about happiness please. Why is it that everyone assumes people actually know how to be happy? When we are born we don't innately know how to drive a car or how to play lacrosse or how to do differential calculus. We have to be taught how to do those things. Yet nowhere really in our lives are we taught how to be happy. Of course suggesting having lessons in how to be happy... when you say it.... it sounds weird. I accept that. But when you think about it... perhaps it not quite so silly as it sounds. Anyway today... all of you reading this.... please.... pop a smile on your face and a spring in your step and have a fantastic day..!!

Happiness is intuitive whereas the things you quote are not. To put it bluntly if you tickle a baby it laughs if you slap it, it cries, nobody needs to tell it to do these things. Some more complicated things may be enjoyable but without understanding you may not find them so, as an example when the comedian Peter Kay announces, 'I've seen the future, it's garlic bread.' I wondered wtf he was on about, having seen the whole preamble to that joke I found it as funny as anybody else.
