It’s funny the things one remembers for no reason…
When I was a child, Pop bought me a pair of PF Flyers as my "weekend" shoes. Bright red, high top sneakers !
Mom said they looked "ridiculous", but she smiled when she saw how happy they made me and didn’t mind me wearing them when we went on errands.
Now I mostly see the new ones sold for men, but people occasionally sell them on EBay. The closest the women’s style comes (in a different brand) is this:
Not quite the same, but I wish I’d found a pair of the originals for my niece when she was little. They were a special part of my childhood; I wore mine until they fell apart.
I sent the above picture to her just now with: "If I bought these for you, would you wear them ?"

Lol cute. I never had fancy shoes growing up except one time when I won my school's spelling bee. I was deathly shy and not very interested and my mom bribed me into participating 🤭. They were about $80 which was crazy expensive in 1999.
