It’s funny the things one remembers for no reason…

When I was a child, Pop bought me a pair of PF Flyers as my "weekend" shoes.
Bright red, high top sneakers !

Mom said they looked "ridiculous", but she smiled when she saw how happy they made me and didn’t mind me wearing them when we went on errands.

Now I mostly see the new ones sold for men, but people occasionally sell them on EBay. The closest the women’s style comes (in a different brand) is this:

Not quite the same, but I wish I’d found a pair of the originals for my niece when she was little. They were a special part of my childhood; I wore mine until they fell apart.

I sent the above picture to her just now with: "If I bought these for you, would you wear them ?"

I remember PF Flyers. Never owned any, knock offs were all my brother and I got. But we loved them, brand names didn`t mean as much as it does now. Just damn lucky to have shoes.

I`ll bet your niece will love those.
@Degbeme She’s going to be 25 next month 😵‍💫.
But she did text back, "Hell, yeah ! Those are cute !" So I guess I’m on the right track. 😊

@bijouxbroussard I guess you`ll be getting them for her?
@Degbeme Looks like ! But they’re not quite as expensive as the PF Flyers. Funny thing is, I never asked for the ones I had. Pop just saw them and thought I’d like them. I’m not sure how much they cost back then.

@bijouxbroussard It`s not the cost my dear, it`s the sentiment behind them
