Terrifying Rockfall Nearly Hits Swimmers at Utah Waterfall

ps I’ve been to this spot and I still can’t imagine how they survived. I think they were just extremely lucky to have gone under water right before the boulders impact. Idk??

They were out of the pathway of the fall, going under water is not what saved them. If they had tried to exit the water just before deciding to dunk themselves, they would have been crushed.

Luck timing and God said it was not their day to die.

@WillaKissing I agree but I know from my experience going there that the water is shallow and they are standing on a rock shelf not a sandy bottom. So my thinking is that those boulders that fell would have come apart and for lack of a better term shrapnel of rock 🪨 would have been shooting out from the impact and they were very lucky not to get struck by it? Idk I’m not a geologist… that’s all.

@RunTheJulz Your good, I spent many years in the Army rock climbing and survival training. We were taught a lot of useful knowledge of those environment's and how to travel undetected through them.

Closer to the Cliff and out of the natural falling path of the rocks was their savior. Impacting water slows and minimalizes the shrapnel affect as well, if those boulders hit rock first and not the water the boulders would have splintered as well as the impacted rock then you would have had serious shrapnel issues.

Very blessed young ladies.
