It's not a hopeless life. You just have a distance to travel to get where you want to be and sometimes that seems close. While other times, that seems far far away. But if you're grateful for this life. There's room for hope. You're making your way and if there was no obstacle course along the way. You wouldn't appreciate it when you hit the end result.
