Was a ball of nervous energy the other day when I was out with my kids. One of our errands was grocery shopping, and I didn’t know it but earlier the middle one won something out of the claw machine. He decided to give it to me.
Thought it was cute and that it looked like Clark Kent, which was really cool because I love Superman. Then I turned it over without even thinking and squealed like a damn girl.
Seriously thought it was one of the coolest gifts I’ve ever received and I was on a high the rest of the day because of it.
@Nebula She's had a bit of a rough life. She is only 4 years old and in that time, she bonded with a man who left her when he was admitted to a retirement home with dementia, then she bonded with his wife who fed her one day and passed away while she was eating.
After that, the family shifted her about between several homes in the space of 3 months. In one of those places, she was dragged out of her hiding spot before she had even settled in - then the RSPCA got her and the family of the deceased went and collected her only to return her to the home where she lived with her now deceased owner.
We rescued her from them on the back of all that six months ago - and she still hasn't adjusted out of needing to check if we are still alive when we sleep and our breathing changes.
I think that we are still dealing with her trauma and a botched introduction, since the people who bought her just turfed her out of the cat carrier and let whatever happened happen.
Eventually, we are going to have to do a reintroduction to our other cat with her, but I need to be able to move around without getting spat at wnd swiped first.
@Nebula I've had my moments when I've said that she's going to have to go if things don't change - but, before I get to that point, I want to be sure that I've tried everything that I can possibly think of... especially when she's bonded with STBX.
At the end of the day, though, she does need to drop her attitude with me and do as I say because she will be spending a lot of her day with me when STBX goes to work and it's not fair that I should be pinned in somewhere because she wants to attack me - and I was afraid that it was going to get to that point with her. She has had me trapped in the hallway a couple of times before while STBX was here to deal with her, but she seems to be calming down with that now.
I can at least go to the toilet and back without any spitting and scratching, which was a problem for me before... and she has even started to follow me into the bathroom, which she didn't do before.
Walking into a restaurant on my birthday a finding a group of my friends gathered there to celebrate with me. I’d been going through a really rough time. They came to remind me that I wasn’t alone in this world, and that I was loved. I was absolutely stunned and happy.
