Mine is 15 years old and drives well

cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
Mine was 9 going on 10 and I wanted to keep it but it got totaled on Monday so I am getting a newer model
Virgo79 · 61-69, M
@cherokeepatti hope you wasnt hurt
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@Virgo79 bruised up badly with a black large across my lower abdomen where the seat belt kept me in, also my shoulder was really sore and a bruise near it, my left thumb felt sprained for a few days, a bruise on my upper thigh, one on the side of my hip, across two fingers, my knees were sore and one bruised and a small abrasion just below one knee probably from my jeans or the airbag popping out. All from the seatbelt and airbag popping out which of course saved my life. We got x-rays done and nothing showed up fractured or broken. I look like I got beat up. No lasting injuries. That bruise across my lower abdomen is going to take over a month to fade away, even little bruises take longer to fade any more. I just had surgery 7 days before and had surgical cuts on one side but higher than the seat belt. I was so scared when it happened that something got tore loose from those 6 surgical cuts. The paramedic checked me & said no internal bleeding. Got to doctors appointment late but he took me in and checked me again for bleeding. I didn’t have a good week, let’s put it that way. I thought I was going to be able to rest during the week after starting to feel better. But had an accident instead.
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@Virgo79 the driver of that other car has had 14 felonies drug-related including meth. . Got the police report back and did a court net work search. She has a FB page and I believe she got off of the drugs a few years ago but don’t know if she got back on them. She was throwing a fit at the accident scene and taken off in an ambulance, didn’t talk to us of course.
Yep. I find a vehicle I like and drive it into the ground. Currently own a 2000 Land Cruiser.
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@BizSuitStacy I am the same way with a purse. I buy one and keep it till it wears out because I am picky about style, features and material.
SubstantialKick · 36-40, M
@cherokeepatti I replaced a wallet earlier this year that I had since I was 13 years old (Christmas 2001). It was so worn out that it looked like a small dog had chewed on it.
ronisme1 · 61-69, M
Yes, very much so. I drive a 91 ford ranger and its still going strong on the original engine, transmission , and other.
HannahSky · F
A ten year old car isn't really old
SubstantialKick · 36-40, M
@HannahSky Right, but if you compare some 2013 models to a 2023, it looks kind of old in comparison thanks to all the new technology and stuff that has come out since that time.
HannahSky · F
@SubstantialKick depends on what you're looking for
Lilymoon · F
Mine is 12 years old now. Still looks and drives great
DisturbOne · 41-45, M
Truthfully! It’s a love hate relationship, hard on parts fuel an my heart. But I ain’t paying the inflated prices of new . Nor do I have to rely on someone else to fix it . Pretty soon the car manufacturer will make it so you can’t even change the tires with out having to take it back . But I do miss the dependability an reliability, safety comfort an the feel of a new vehicle. Man there’s nothing like the new car smell . Making all your haters jealous of your new whip . Plus it’s nice to have new technology at your fingertips, doesn’t Make it so boring.
Nanori · F
Yeah I prefer older cars they're stronk
( ʘ̆ ╭ʖ╮ ʘ̆ )
My mini van is 8 years old. I'll probably keep it for as long as I can since it's very utilitarian, and I haven't had too many problems with it. I just can't quantify spending the kind of money they want nowadays for a new vehicle.
SubstantialKick · 36-40, M
@BrewCityBarfly New car prices nowadays are ridiculous. Not to mention how that you could spend all that money, just for the value to drop like an anvil as soon as you drive off the lot.
GerOttman · 61-69, M
I have a Ford LTD wagon from 1989 that needs a restoration to get back on the road. It's going to be a big job but I'm kinda looking forward to it.
SubstantialKick · 36-40, M
@GerOttman That would be nice to take on a road trip.
deadgerbil · 26-30, M
My grandmother's car is like 2011 I think. It's ok on gas in general but pales in comparison to cars now

The power is nice. No performance car but I love thrashing it around
SubstantialKick · 36-40, M
@deadgerbil Mine is a 2010 Malibu. 169 hp and about 22 MPG in normal traffic.
deadgerbil · 26-30, M
@SubstantialKick that's about the same as mine. Cars now it's like mid 30s to 40s for mpg. Lots of money saved in the long run
olderuncle944 · 70-79, M
lol i dont own a car less than 10 years 1978 Chevy c20 ,1984 ford f150, 1999 ford crown vic patrol car ,2004 Subaru legacy gt wagon and fnely a 2020 Subaru outback
.

I actually don't remember how old my current car is 🤔
All my previous ones were 10+ years older tho, and I loved all of them.
SW-User
I used to have a new car every two years.
Now I keep them till they die.
Emissions low, so why worry.

I’m not sold on this electric car nonsense.
Though I understand in Wales it is quickly to walk, unless you have an electric lawn mower.
SubstantialKick · 36-40, M
@SW-User I feel the same about EV's here in the States. Still lots of testing to be done.
Whoa. I just realized my car will be 10 next year. 😅
Fullmetal · 51-55, M
2013, 230000km, still a DD
Havesomefun2 · 56-60, M
Mine is 22 years old 😢
SubstantialKick · 36-40, M
@Havesomefun2 I'll bet it's probably easier to work on than many cars today.
Virgo79 · 61-69, M
Ill stick with my older for dependability
Atlotto · M
Kinda. It only gets about 15mpg, but has plenty of power (275 horsepower and 275 pounds-feet of torque) and four-wheel drive.
DDonde · 31-35, M
I'd prefer something better but used cars are so expensive right now.
iamonfire696 · 41-45, F
Mine is 12 years old and I am driving it until it’s dead
Lilnonames · F
Yes i paid 300 for this a year ago

And 300 for this four years ago

And 300 for this van last week
Moneyonmymind · 31-35, M
yes my toyota corolla is reilable
SubstantialKick · 36-40, M
@Moneyonmymind I had a Toyota Camry before the Chevy.
Moneyonmymind · 31-35, M
@SubstantialKick I will never own a ford or Chevy
empanadas · 31-35, M
I'm cheap af. 😅😆 I'm happy since I don't have to pay monthly payments for a loan or lease.
