Often it encourages people to spend more without feeling like they are being taxed at the cash register.
politicians use a similar ploy of tax cuts when chasing votes although they usually end up shifting taxes from one area to another aka Indian giving inorder to carry favor with voters.

@checkoutanytime states still need to collect taxes to pay for state run services like hospitals and roads.

@justanothername tariffs, property tax, corperate tax, if thats not enough, the state has become a dictator/monarch, and needs to be defunded.

@checkoutanytime Despite our best intentions, that’s how government bodies work. Doesn’t matter what side of the fence they are on they are all better at using it all up than generating useful outcomes with it.
If you defund public services you are basically left with no service (hospital, school, police etc at all.)
If you force everyone into paid schools or healthcare only then you strip out a big percentage of the population from receiving health care or education. That’s why you have a mix of public and private and health insurance and public or private schools.
Corporates are usually better because they have to show results to their share holders each quarter. But obviously not all business run the same way or are the same size.
You could be an owner operator or you could be the CEO of a large nationwide business. The success of that business depends on you and your staff.

@MrBrownstone if they just eliminated sales and income tax, the state wouldn't be such a falling down decrepit place. Id never move to mass. Bc nonwealthy people like myself would be forced to pay top dollar for a falling down apartment, not a pleasant home.
