I Hate Taxes

"Taxation is the price we pay for failing to build a civilized society. The higher the tax level, the greater the failure. A centrally planned totalitarian state represents a complete defeat for the civilized world, while a totally voluntary society represents its ultimate success." Mark Skousen

Taxation is theft.

I haven't seen any hospitals, schools or doctors in any voluntary society yet, they mostly work on smoking pot and free sex

What a total load of tosh. Without taxation, there's no government, and without government, no courts or legal system. A totally voluntary society equals one in which everyone is encouraged to indulge in maximum selfishness at the price of everything else.

Taxation IS civilisation.

Look again at the taxes/laws in places like Sweden and Denmark, sure they have a 45% income tax but they have also been voted as some of the happiest places to live because of things like free child daycare, free healthcare and free college
Inquisator · M
@RoxClymer yes we do have it pretty cozy

Kinda strange how there's a correlation between high taxes and healthy societies, then.

I mean, maybe, on some utopian fantasy-land level. But not in reality.
Inquisator · M
@Tatsumi you got that right

Umm, “taxation” and “a centrally planned totalitarian state” are two vastly different things. The American revolution, for instance, wasn’t fought to gain freedom from taxation, but rather to ensure that those who were taxed would have representation and input into how those taxes were assessed and what they would be spent on. If you think that millions of humans can just voluntarily engage in the planning and funding of infrastructure projects, defense and mass public safety and health initiatives then you don’t have a very good understanding of humans.

But what about other nations? I want a strong military.
Inquisator · M
@HoraceGreenley well you can't have one sorry

@Inquisator So we are going to rely on the kindness of strangers.

Always think about anyone who hawks investment letters, spouts his rubbish on townhall.com and claims to have beaten the market leaders by 145%.

All is(of course) well in Libertaria.

You must be a snowflake. Look at Norway and Germany who have high taxes and they both are doing great and have a lot better education and healthcare than we do.

Taxes work the same way as "protection money" thats gangs extract. What are governments but the biggest of all gangs.

Utopia is only for Utopians, and we humans don't qualify. I like the thought, but I understand the reality.
