I love how they dressed back then. It puts me in mind of the answer work gave when asked why people who had no contact with the public needed to abide by the dress code - they said what you’re wearing affects your attitudes and behavior. In short, dressing for work would inspire you to behave in a professional manner. In that same vein, I think the effort and formality of dress went hand in hand with more effort and formality of behavior. There was a group on Instagram of women who loved the fashion of this era and generally wore it whenever they could and it seemed to be as much about how it made them feel as how it looked. I can appreciate both very much, but my closet full of jeans, boots, and men’s shirts is in no danger, I think. 😄
