I Am Going to Say Something Controversial
From an American's perspective, here is why Donald Trump was chosen to lead the Republican Party, instead of some other contender? What some Americans see in DT that make him appear as the best option. [NOW with no censorship]
D. Trump offers those who feel they have been ignored and socially mistreated a way to strike back without risking anything. They hide behind a loudmouth who has given them the illusion he represents them. He offers simple solution-solution sounding easy-to-remember words and catch-phrases that (some) people find comforting (build a wall, wipe out ISIS, make things better, win, etc.). There's a reason why the polls suggest that those with less education seem obsessively drawn to him. Let's face it, all of the candidates left standing and the parties they represent have serious flaws (more so than candidates from prior election cycles). But, in addition to representing the (new) Republican party also represents the very worst in each of us.

Can you be any more idiotic in your recitation of campaign rhetoric? Saying, "I will destroy ISIS," "I will create jobs," "I am the only one who can make you safe" suggests you just want someone to read you a bedtime story so you can sleep soundly. There's nothing entirely wrong with that if that's your goal in life, but to solve any of those problems we need considerably more than the empty ring of clichés and (heavily edited) reality TV constructed drama. Admittedly, Clinton presents problems as well, but Trump offers no solutions other than giving you that good night's sleep you want. And, unfortunately, that's just not enough.
