Some States Are Turning Miscarriages and Stillbirths Into Criminal Cases Against Women

Women in South Carolina, Georgia, Ohio, Arkansas, Texas, Mississippi, Oklahoma and several other states have faced criminal charges after a miscarriage or stillbirth for failing to seek immediate medical treatment, not pursuing prenatal care or disposing of the fetal remains in a way that law enforcement or prosecutors considered improper.

Which is wrong because women don't always know they are having a miscarriage, sometimes there's other symptoms and they may just think they are getting sick or whatever. They may panic.

This article was in 2024 but it's even worse now, already women are facing ordeal at hospitals where having any kids is unsafe. This is further evidence of people having less children, and others think tech is to blame when it's fairly obvious what is going on

This is absolutely terrible, it's not an equal playing field. Some women have extremely complex lives, unstable mental health and some may not have full understanding. I've had four miscarriages, even though I had the best possible support, each was painful and traumatic. No way should loosing a child be made a criminal offense, even if the choices made by the mother were not ideal.
