Lauren Boebert misspells "America" in tweet on preserving country's rights
Colorado Representative Lauren Boebert took to Twitter on Friday to discuss the preservation of America's Constitution, but there was one small catch: She misspelled the word America.
Boebert, a member of the Republican Party who has a reputation for her outspoken and sometimes controversial beliefs, has been a diligent advocate for gun rights amid the ongoing battle for gun control. She even owns her own restaurant in Rifle, Colorado, where the staff is encouraged to carry firearms.
On Friday, Boebert tweeted about the importance of preserving the Constitution, writing, "The Senate has a compromise on gun control. We don't compromise on the Constitution. We don't compromise on our Second Amendment."
She then added, "If you vote for gun control, you are not on the side of Ameirca," misspelling the country's name.

Twitter users were quick to point out her mistake, one writing, "Hey Miss Constitutional scholar… [you] misspelled America."
Democratic strategist Adam Parkhomenko responded to Boebert's tweet, writing, "Someone want to teach this f****** moron how to spell America?"

Boebert made headlines in February for another infamous spelling mistake, though this one was not her own. Boebert received a "Hottest Woman in Congress Award" from Jesse Kelly, a right-wing commentator who hosts a radio program as well as a show on The First, a digital-first TV network.
A picture of her holding up the award, posted on Twitter by PatriotTakes, went viral though when it was pointed out that Boebert was spelled wrong.
Boebert has been more vocal about gun rights as calls for gun reform have escalated in the wake of the Uvalde, Texas, shooting, in which 19 students and two teachers were killed at Robb Elementary School, the deadliest school shooting since the 2012 Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting in Newtown, Connecticut.
Speaking on Fox News' Hannity shortly after the mass shooting, Boebert said, "When 9/11 happened, we didn't ban planes, we secured the cockpit."
She went on to suggest that the attack at the elementary school in Texas was proof that gun-free zones are "deadly" and that bringing in stricter firearms laws would also not work as "we cannot legislate evil."
She has openly spoken about the need for teachers to be armed in schools, saying that giving teachers firearms would prevent mass shootings from happening.
"I want real solutions, not just tweets," Boebert said. "I want our schools secured. I want our children protected. And I want teachers that can protect themselves and their students. And you know what, we can achieve this without trying to disarm law abiding citizens."
