WASHINGTON (AP) — The House passed a wide-ranging gun control bill Wednesday in response to recent mass shootings in Buffalo, New York, and Uvalde, Texas, that would raise the age limit for purchasing a semi-automatic rifle and prohibit the sale of ammunition magazines with a capacity of more than 15 rounds.

The really outrageous thing is if measures like these had been passed months, or years ago, that Uvalde 18-year-old would not have been able to buy two AR-15s., and maybe that Texas school massacre would not have happened. But the laws were not in place and 19 children and two teachers are dead. The gun industry must be held liable for the ongoing gun carnage in America.

He would have been able to get the guns regardless of his age
Illegal guns are so easy to get

The manufacturers aren't the problem
The health care system is the problem
Identifying and helping people before the feel they need to shoot people should be what were focusing on rather then making guns and the manufacturers the problem

Just because the house passed it doesn’t mean it’s a law . This house would have passed it without all the mass shootings . I am interested to see which republicans went along with it .

It’s a step in the right direction but it’s not enough. I would’ve rather seen waiting periods and better background checks. Also, mandatory firearms training
Way to go House. Sadly, we're going nowhere with anything because hey, lets face it Republicans dont' mind dead kids as long as they get to keep their guns to get ready for the civil war to MAGA and kill all libs.

Am I exxagerating? Not much, really.
@badminton Sounds romantic, but I don't think it's going to work.

I get the money issue, but they're in office and getting the money because so many voters don't mind death and violence, or for that matter, lies and corruption as long as they're "winning" and someone else is suffering.

@MistyCee You may be right. However, there is a chance that people are waking up to the reality of gun violence and realizing the next victim could be themselves, their family, friends, anyone. Thousands of people are killed by guns every year in America and it's getting worse. I can only hope and pray there are enough sane people around to put a stop to the murderous gun plague in America.
@badminton im hoping and praying too, but I don't see a solution to selfish, shortsighted, stupid, scared and mean voters.
Will fail in the senate.

@Spunkylama The Republicans in the Senate are in an awkward position. They depend on the votes of gun nuts during election time. However, the gun carnage in the country is getting more frequent and deadlier. Millions of Americans are demanding action on guns. It will be interesting to see how Senate Republicans respond.

The Senate GOP will filibuster it, and Manchin will will refuse to vote, hoping his daughter can get a job with the gun lobby, or a gun manufacturer.

@RogueLoner Making a 30-round mag for an AR-15 would take some skills. I doubt most people are able or willing to do the work. The point is to pass laws banning the sale of high-capacity mags and making them illegal to possess. The ONLY purpose for high-capacity mags is to kill large numbers of people quickly. No civilian has any legitimate need for high-capacity magazines.

@RogueLoner I doubt it’s that easy unless you have a 3-D printer
