Update: 14 students and a teacher killed in Texas school shooting

Fourteen students and a teacher are dead after a shooting at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas, according to Gov. Greg Abbott. The 18-year-old suspect, a student at Uvalde High School, is also dead, he said.

The suspect also allegedly shot his grandmother before entering the school and again opening fire, Abbott said. He did not say anything further about her condition. Abbott said the shooter had a handgun and also possibly a rifle.

[c=800000]Chicago has STRICT gun control laws. How is that working out? [/c]
Not well at all. Criminals know law abiding citizens are more than likely not going to be armed and can’t defend themselves. @ProfessorPlum77

@stratosranger Exactly!

@ProfessorPlum77 Chicago has weak gun laws compared to other countries. Criminals just cross the state line to buy guns. We need a federal gun license to buy guns or ammo, like a driver's license, requiring photo and finger-prints, and a mandatory gun training course.

@stratosranger
Criminals know law abiding citizens are more than likely not going to be armed
How do the Criminals know which are the unarmed law abiding citizens?
Because gun control makes it difficult for law abiding citizens to obtain weapons to protect themselves. Facts. @Really

@badminton According to "Law Enforcement Today" Chicago has strict gun control laws, as does Illinois.

@ProfessorPlum77 Photo and finger-prints are not required. There is no requirement to complete a gun safety training class. Dangerous military-grade firearms are easily available. to me those are weak gun laws.

@stratosranger With freedom comes responsibility. The purpose of gun laws is to screen out dangerous, unfit people who should not have powerful weapons. That is common sense.
@badminton And that process has failed. Criminals do not abide by the law. If they want a gun they’ll get it through illegal means.

@stratosranger The Texas shooter legally bought TWO AR-15's on his 18th birthday. A great many shootings happen with legally purchased guns. So much for that false gun-nut narrative.
Thank you for proving my point. Gun control doesn’t work. Time to figure out something better. @badminton
