I Do Not Support Gun Control

There was a guy in my town that was stabbed in the neck by some Young Thug as part of a gang initiation. What should the victim have done. Is this not a good enough argument for no gun control

No, it isn't. If the victim had a gun, there's no guarantee he'd have it on him. If he DID have it on him, the odds are excellent that it'd be taken off him and he'd get shot as well as stabbed.

@firefall what if he stopped a potential murder he was going to be the victim anyway might as well go out fighting

@Cassandra1 you're just floundering around for reasons to carry a gun. What if he stopped a potential murder? so he's going to shoot someone coming towards him whether he knows their intention or not? or is are all gunholders meant to have superhuman reflexes?

You're just being pathetic

@firefall I didn't say that he didn't know that he was getting stabbed until the he turned back around. You're assuming I said shoot him for no reason. If this guy was able to pull a gun with a knife in his neck and take the gun down before he killed him because that's what he was trying to do is kill somebody. What would you have done lay down on the ground
Cassandra1 · 36-40, T
@firefall by the way this guy told police that it was part of a gang initiation to kill someone so he's a more potential murderer than anybody

@Cassandra1 I am confused as to how gun would have helped here. I doubt this person went up to the victim, told him what he was about to do and then gave him time to draw, set himself and fire?

Most likely this person walked up to the victim, maybe even form behind and stabbed him. No warning, no time to do anything, let alone draw a gun and defend themselves.
Cassandra1 · 36-40, T
@Pherick this guy lived but barely think about a mother they can defend herself from somebody like this.
Pherick · 41-45, M
@Cassandra1 Well as I was trying to say there is really no defense from a random stabbing like this. The person doing the stabbing knows what they are going to do and unless the person with the gun is set and ready to use it, the stabbing person is always going to win.
Cassandra1 · 36-40, T
@Pherick what difference does that make. The guy was able to push the guy back enough time to get a gun out and end the threat
Pherick · 41-45, M
@Cassandra1 What guy? What gun? Your story was about someone getting stabbed in the neck? Did the victim have a gun?
Cassandra1 · 36-40, T
@Pherick if the victim had a damn gun he could have potentially stop the threat maybe not but maybe so again this Thug was trying to kill him it was part of a gang initiation.
Pherick · 41-45, M
@Cassandra1 WHatever, what you are saying makes no sense. A gun is not going to help you if you are not given time to use it. A blitz attack like that doesn't leave you time to think or pull a gun. Case closed.
Cassandra1 · 36-40, T
@Pherick oh Jesus so you're not supposed to fight back at all what you're saying doesn't make sense to me I'm going to fight back no matter what. What seems so silly to me is everyone wanting to lay down and just let it happen Jesus do you have no will to live
Pherick · 41-45, M
@Cassandra1 No one at all is saying you should just lay down and die. However if you get stabbed in the neck, and your first thought is "I am going to pull my gun out" rather than "Oh shit, I need to get help or get away from this guy"

You have some serious issues. A gun is used for defense, NOT revenge.
Cassandra1 · 36-40, T
@Pherick how are you going to get away from a guy that's physically trying to kill you. Do you want to scratch his eyes out or pull something to make him stop in his tracks like a gun. You won't have time to say oh shit I need to get some help if he's still stabbing you. This guy was able to break away for a second he could have pulled the gun then and stop the threat. It's not about revenge it's about self-reliance. I asked the other guy if he would even fight back would you?
Pherick · 41-45, M
@Cassandra1 Nope obviously I would just lay there and let him stab me.

How can you even ask such a stupid question?

MAYBE if he had a gun, he could have broken away for a second, and shot the knife guy. Maybe not. It wouldn't have stopped him from getting stabbed in the first place. You also said he was in a restaurant when it happened, so with the pain of being stabbed, blood loss, its entirely possible he would have shot someone else by accident.
Cassandra1 · 36-40, T
@Pherick okay let's say that I had a gun and I saw this guy get stabbed in the neck I pulled out the my gun and shot the guy stabbing him saved his life
Cassandra1 · 36-40, T
@Pherick just because you get stabbed does not mean your dead if dude had a gun on him maybe he could have stopped it quicker he's lucky that the guys just got scared and ran off. I don't understand the point in defending criminals
Cassandra1 · 36-40, T
See I have a concealed to carry I am trained to use it. I got it because I know that the world is not all sunshine and rainbows
Pherick · 41-45, M
@Cassandra1 No one, least of all me is defending criminals. What I am questioning is your apparently special forces level of training that would allow you to get stabbed in the neck and then thinking clearly, pull a gun and effectively defend yourself.

I think people watch too many movies.

Real world studies and simulations have shown people with concealed guns are just as likely to gun down friends and people nearby than to hit a shooter in group situations.
Cassandra1 · 36-40, T
@Pherick not all people die from stabbing I know this cause I work in the ER. No special forces training needed. Its called fight or flight. It's sad to see more people are taking the flight
Pherick · 41-45, M
@Cassandra1 You keep replying to statements no one had made. I never said people don't die from stabbings.

Actually you are very very wrong. Training is needed, police receive constant training to not give in the adrenaline of fight or flight.

The fact you have a gun and no training is scary as shit.
Cassandra1 · 36-40, T
@Pherick like I said some people shut down and some people fight. You believe what u wanna believe. Obviously you are going to come up with a scenario where I'm wrong and you're right and vice versa. I tote my handgun with me everywhere and i'm very skilled with its functioning. I wouldn't think twice about using it I was endanger or family. You think I need some special training to fight for my life I believe you are wrong. It has been proven that the amount of deaths or violent attacks by criminals happens more often in gun free zones
