I think it's interesting how people are more concerned about their "right" to own a deadly weapon than the rights of others to live in reasonable safety.

It's also something to note that more gun deaths in the USA are from suicide. So yes, maybe we should keep the guns out of the hands of law abiding citizens for the same reason we don't install suicide booths.

@Doomflower I respect your opinion...

@Montanaman I don't see any opinions in my comment. It is a fact that Americans care more about their so called right to a hand cannon than the rights of others to live. It is also a fact that more gun deaths in the USA are from suicide than homicide.

@Montanaman not so much an opinion as an option. Maybe. Maybe we don't really mind people killing themselves and should install suicide booths. Heck, maybe we should encourage it.

See?

@Doomflower all I know, my feelings and opinion, I have one gun. A beretta.380, had it since 1988, and I don't need another. I know how to use it, as do my wife and adult sons, they know that it's loaded, and have never been curious about it. It there, if I ever need it, God forbid. I don't have a carry permit, like almost Everyone else in Montana does, I'd like to get one, but it's low on my to-do list. My family does not live in fear and we will never become victims.
But I digress...😏

@Montanaman if you say so.

I'm sure it's absolutely impossible for one of your sons, your wife, or yourself to become suicidal due to mental illness or extreme trauma.

I remember knowing a guy who had a family like yours. He hid his mental illness from everyone and then blew his brains out in the bathtub seemingly out of the blue. His mom found him.

@Doomflower God, that's terrible and very tragic. I'm especially sensitive to issues of suicide. My daughter tried it at 14. Bottle of pills. My gun could have been the chosen tool of her intending demise, but thank God it wasn't.
She's now a college professor teaching Sociology at SUNY.
Again thanks for your important input. I value your facts and feelings.👍
