Thoughts on Gun control?

There should be some level of control. Assault rifles make people feel more confident, and aren't necessary for home defense. So I understand those restrictions. Also screening people with serious mental illness seems like a good idea.
They're slippery slopes though. If an assault rifle is unavailable, the next best thing would be a simi auto rifle or shotgun. Those would give more confidence than a pistol, so why not ban them too? Then there's concerns of who decides what is a serious mental illness.
You give an inch, and they take a mile.
You don't bend, and you'll break.
Shitty options.

@VolpeTredici the good thing about assault weapons is that politicians still can't define what one is

@MarineBob Technically, they're all assault and defense weapons. I would assume they will eventually settle on typical military weaponry, but that means disarming vets, which isn't gonna happen. I think it's all a distraction.
American citizens cannot buy assault weapons those weapons are made for military and law enforcement only@VolpeTredici

@VolpeTredici i feel like guns should really only be necessary in the military and for citizens there should be another means of defense that is non lethal. That way there would be less dangerous situations right? I don’t research this enough to know in full detail but i think itd work

ban rubber bullets, common folk wont buy them and if a law enforcement officer needs to use a gun he better kill or severely wound them and not piss them off

@Lefty63 I can buy the parts though. Assembly is simple.

@Misael909 The transition would be brutal, at best. While the law abiding citizens comply, the rest take advantage. Sure, maybe eventually it would balance out, but it will take a hell of a lot of time.
People can try to compare it to how other countries took weapons and it worked, but we are rather uniquely fucked up and violent in general.

@MarineBob I like rubber bullets though.
Besides, making the police more lethal will make people more afraid of them. The more afraid they are, the more cops will die.
