The only country with a spree killing problem is the only country with super super lax gun control.

@CountScrofula first off America is not the only country with killing sprees secondly Switzerland has more liberal gun laws than we do with less shooters you’re wrong on both statements
CountScrofula · 41-45, M
@SW-User Switzerland has crazy restrictive gun laws. They just have high rates of ownership - and America STILL has a way higher rate than Switzerland.

But I am talking about gun control, not number of guns owned. Switzerland has loads of gun control.

And the US has had WAY more mass shootings than anywhere else. Like, orders of magnitude greater. There is no close comparison. You can't say "Well Canada had like, one mass shooting last year so they're just as bad."
@CountScrofula

You have an "American-inferiority" illness.

We understand that happens alot... Moreso as America gets Great Again.

Spend 6 months in El Salvadore or Costa Rica ... and you will be on your way to a cure.

@questionWeaver I spent some time in Costa Rica last year wonderful country a lot of fun

@questionWeaver What? I'm saying Americans are like everyone else and that adopting gun laws more in line with the rest of the world would solve a problem. Nobody is inferior. Hell, you should hear me complain about Canada. I'm no patriot.

@CountScrofula if we are going to count some numbers the United States as one country has half the population of the continent of Europe. The United States is also the just about the same in size as Europe. It’s important to note this because we don’t hear about what happens outside the western world in Asia there’s still mass slavery and shootings everyday more than the U.S.
@CountScrofula

America does not aspire to be like the rest of the world.

We are already the only superpower

@CountScrofula explain how more gun laws would make America safer you said it I want you to back that up I’ve yet to see that claim supported
CountScrofula · 41-45, M
@questionWeaver There were superpowers before and there will be after. Americans are neither exceptional nor inferior. They're just people. "Oh this one solution that works everywhere else couldn't POSSIBLY work here because we're special"

@SW-User Gun culture is affected by the law. If you implement some basic gun controls you'll change how people deal with them. Like in Canada with have licensing with mandatory training, permits for transport, etc... there's still guns. But it's harder for some kid to just grab one and go to town because they're more securely taken care of.

Like, your federal government can't even research gun violence as a public health problem. That's insane. You can take a few steps towards sane, adult regulation without disarming the entire population. There are many in-betweens to find.

@CountScrofula how does that make us safer though like I’ve said hundreds of time in 2014 China had a mass stabbing that had more casualties than any shooting in America. Also America is literally a country built on smuggling it started with tea. If we don’t allow certain people to own guns like kids smugglers will supply.
CountScrofula · 41-45, M
@SW-User You will never stop all mass killings. They happen, and have always happened. The US just has WAY WAY WAY WAY more than would be considered 'normal'. However, you can make them harder. By your logic, China should have around 140% the spree killings the US does. Instead, they are extremely rare in China.

Getting illegal stuff is always possible, but it's usually pretty hard. I doubt there'll be guys selling AK-47s out of vans outside of high schools.

@CountScrofula mass killings are pretty rare in China but that’s because the government controls everything and they will kill you themselves and cover it up Christians are being killed in China everyday. A wife isn’t allowed to visit her husband in the United States because they are afraid she won’t come back.
@CountScrofula

We are unlike any other country ... our citizens have natural rights ... and a completely representative form of government.

These don't make us special ... they form the basis of what makes our nation economically, benevolently, innoventionally and militarily number 1.
