Any thoughts on why most horrific shootings (not all but most) occur in states with lax gun control?

Ehh. Lemme see. It's just a wild guess. Easy access to firearms aka more firearms on average per capita compared to states with more strict gun control. I dunno.

At times they show stuff in very simple ways making it obvious even for the dumb, however ignorant people will still be blind. You should look all the slides/source up, several interesting among them.

I totally agree.

It’s a secret plot by liberals and Obama so that Muslims can take away our guns.

They only test rockets at space X. Houston, Austin, & Dallas all have major industrial complexes that house companies such as Texas instruments, AT&T, and Sysco just to name a few. Looks like you might be mistaken about Texas, but that's OK we are used to out of state morons.

@BinkyTinkles I wouldn't want to live in Texas just specifically for the state board of education alone:

http://www.nybooks.com/articles/2012/06/21/how-texas-inflicts-bad-textbooks-on-us/
No matter where you live, if your children go to public schools, the textbooks they use were very possibly written under Texas influence. If they graduated with a reflexive suspicion of the concept of separation of church and state and an unexpected interest in the contributions of the National Rifle Association to American history, you know who to blame.

Ever since the 1960s, the selection of schoolbooks in Texas has been a target for the religious right, which worried that schoolchildren were being indoctrinated in godless secularism, and political conservatives who felt that their kids were being given way too much propaganda about the positive aspects of the federal government. Mel Gabler, an oil company clerk, and his wife, Norma, who began their textbook crusade at their kitchen table, were the leaders of the first wave. They brought their supporters to State Board of Education meetings, unrolling their “scroll of shame,” which listed objections they had to the content of the current reading material. At times, the scroll was fifty-four feet long. Products of the Texas school system have the Gablers to thank for the fact that at one point the New Deal was axed from the timeline of significant events in American history.
movies, games, video games, guns are endlessly presented as an everyday item necessary to be an American.

@BinkyTinkles Japan, which has strict laws for obtaining firearms, seldom has more than 10 shooting deaths a year in a population of 127 million people.

If Japanese people want to own a gun, they must attend an all-day class, pass a written test, and achieve at least 95% accuracy during a shooting-range test.

Then they have to pass a mental-health evaluation at a hospital, as well as a background check, in which the government digs into any criminal records or ties and interviews friends and family members.

They can buy only shotguns and air rifles — no handguns — and must retake the class and the initial exam every three years.

@lulaluboo I’m from Chicago. And I’m having trouble remembering when was the last time we had a mass shooting. Or when we had strict gun laws. I can buy a gun here without even showing ID.

@lulaluboo Just checking: are you imitating right wingers blurting out "Chicago" everytime guns come up? Or...
@lulaluboo
What about Chicago?

The only gun control we need in Texas is being able to hit your target.
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
@AlphaCuckTX Guns should be for people who are smart enough to use them. And let’s be honest, “smart” and “Texas” don’t go in the same sentence.
