I Have Something to Say

A LITTLE GUN HISTORY

In 1929, the Soviet Union established gun control. From 1929 to 1953, about 20 million dissidents, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

In 1911, Turkey established gun control. From 1915 to 1917, 1.5 million Armenians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

Germany established gun control in 1938 and from 1939 to 1945, a total of 13 million Jews and others who were unable to defend themselves were rounded up and exterminated.

China established gun control in 1935. From 1948 to 1952, 20 million political dissidents, unable to defend themselves were rounded up and exterminated.

Guatemala established gun control in 1964. From 1964 to 1981, 100,000 Mayan Indians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

Uganda established gun control in 1970. From 1971 to 1979, 300,000 Christians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

Cambodia established gun control in 1956. From 1975 to 1977, one million educated people, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

56 million defenseless people rounded up and exterminated in the 20th Century because of gun control:

You won't see this data on the US evening news, or hear politicians disseminating this information.

Guns in the hands of honest citizens save lives and property and, yes, gun-control laws adversely affect only the law-abiding citizens.

Take note my fellow Americans, before it's too late!

The next time someone talks in favor of gun control, please remind them of this history lesson.

With guns, we are "citizens". Without them, we are "subjects".

During WWII the Japanese decided not to invade America because they knew most Americans were ARMED!

If you value your freedom, please spread this antigun-control message to all of your friends.

SWITZERLAND ISSUES EVERY HOUSEHOLD A GUN!
SWITZERLAND'S GOVERNMENT TRAINS EVERY ADULT THEY ISSUE A RIFLE.
SWITZERLAND HAS THE LOWEST GUN RELATED CRIME RATE OF ANY CIVILIZED COUNTRY IN THE WORLD!!!
IT'S A NO BRAINER!
DON'T LET OUR GOVERNMENT WASTE MILLIONS OF OUR TAX DOLLARS IN AN EFFORT TO MAKE ALL LAW ABIDING CITIZENS AN EASY TARGET.

Spread the word everywhere you can that you are a firm believer in the 2nd Amendment!

It's time to speak loud before they try to silence and disarm us.

You're not imagining it, history shows that governments always manipulate tragedies to attempt to disarm the people.

Some problematic reasoning in here, as well as some factual errors. See the lengthy analysis here:

@Driver2
oh well many have slaughtered their own citizens
Do you have any sources for that?

@SW-User the m as in post listed the facts
Millions were killed when the guns were confiscated

@Driver2 I already responded to that dubious claim earlier in this thread.

Your argument is ignoring historical context. Also in a dictatorship when they can just have death squads and tanks, your neighbors having "one or two" guns isn't going to do it. Dictatorships take time to evolve with the people's support.

@SatanBurger leftist revision of history . Only Nazis has guns in Germany after Hitler took power
SatanBurger · 36-40, FVIP
@TexChik The only revisionists here are conservatives gun rights advocates. Their claims about dictatorships being linked to gun control is mostly false.

@SatanBurger funny how lubscare jumping on Trump for this shooting in Florida . CNN is reporting bs but fails to mention obama had 162 shootings on his watch , and that it was the FBI , not Trump, that didn’t heed the warning .
Yes, in Switzerland people are TRAINED. Not just untrained enthusiasts running around playing soldier and making lists of neighbors they are going to kill (like the Michigan Militia).

Control has always been part of it here. Read the first phrase of the Second Amendment.

Totally not surprisingly, this is all rated "Mostly False"

https://www.snopes.com/politics/guns/gunhistory.asp

Also ..

During WWII the Japanese decided not to invade America because they knew most Americans were ARMED!

This made me laugh out loud. Out off 100 reasons why to NOT invade the US, maybe this was 99 on that list. Probably the NAVY was #1, then there was the fact we had 50 million more people than they did just overall.
SatanBurger · 36-40, FVIP
@Pherick That was a good link. In my opinion gun control doesn't always mean "gun ban" like others make it out to be. Even if America was to become a dictatorship and "every household had guns everywhere" it would be a huge leap of faith to trust people (and their motives) I don't know all across America to suddenly come to my rescue because they were "heavily armed."

Just a random thought, I distrust the word "militia," I mean generally.. I could be wrong about the word but it just sounds so.. fascist. To support the case for gun control.. do I really want to trust guns in the hands of... those groups in the quote below 🤔

The extreme right in the United States has long had a fascination with paramilitary groups. Before World War II, right-wing and fascist groups such as the Silver Shirt Legion and the Christian Front marched across America. Later, the Cold War ushered in a new wave of paramilitary organizations like the California Rangers and the Minutemen. In the 1980s, survivalists and white supremacists formed a variety of paramilitary groups ranging from the Christian Patriot-Defense League to the Texas Emergency Reserve to the White Patriot Party.

Pherick · 41-45, M
@SatanBurger The word militia has undergone alot of change since it was first used back in the 1700's. Then it was a group of men, usually farmers and such called up in times of need for the common defense.

Now its become a negative term, more fringe right-wing groups, anti-government types that are being called that or using the name.

I think if we re-wrote the 2A for modern times it would start "A well-regulated National Guard", as that is what really the founders were talking about. Non-professional soldiers who could be called upon in times of need.

It is an argument and a debate but these should be based on sound facts. Simply copying internet pages which seem a little short on objectivity and facts - erodes your case and any point you wish to make.
Jackaloftheazuresand · 26-30, M
@Pherick The infantry comes first, the people must act then by escaping them and staging their offensive on bases and manufacturing, taking what personnel they can for training endeavors and seizing those machines of war to truly fight back. None of this works if the people are shut down from the beginning because all they have are shotguns and limited ammunition for other weapons.
Pherick · 41-45, M
@Jackaloftheazuresand That sounds like a great novel.

It just comes down to though, you are agreeing with me, civilian weapons wouldn't stop a military coup. Which is one of the main excuses used by pro-gun people to fight against any kind of gun control?
AHugo · 61-69, M
@Wellington Agreed.
Good post. As an addendum I might add that it's always cheaper for our government to crack down on law abiding citizens, rather than addressing the real issue here, which is a total breakdown of the mental health system in the United States which would cost too much to fix.
Our government is a failure as a whole. Not simply just the FBI and Law Enforcement. I am not for total gun control. I am simply saying that to solve the gun problem with mass shootings, that we should start with solving the real issue of our nations mental health problems.
@allsfinebime2 Except for the fact that this president repealed protections in 2017 that might’ve helped keep weapons out of the hands of the mentally ill. So while Trump’s pitch may be about this shooter’s mental illness, he’s not making any connection between that and guns. Or healthcare and treating mental illness, for that matter.
@bijouxbroussard Excellent point, which I failed to state in my prior posting, thank you. ☺

@Stereoguy What difference would that make? It would still be the same flawed rhetoric.
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
Family history of life in Russia. The Russians were raiding the German settlements, killing men and raping women. The Germans were pacifist and unarmed except for one family. That family was an outcast in their church because they owned guns. They never shot anyone or did anyone any harm with the guns but the Russians knew that that family had guns and the Russians never attacked that family. The Russians did attack families all around them but not the family with a rifle. Things that make you go hmmmm when someone goes off the deep end demanding the control of tools rather than the control of insane people.
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@Pherick It was my family. My great grandfather kept a diary.
Pherick · 41-45, M
@hippyjoe1955 Oh yea my story is true too, my great grandmother was hidden in a secret spot and saw it all happen. Crazy huh?
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@Pherick Wouldn't know. I happen to have read the diary and it is very believable. He recounts having to hide in the river when he was working on the farm and didn't have his rifle with him. Fortunately his wife had the rifle and she was unharmed.
AHugo · 61-69, M
always manipulate tragedies to attempt to disarm the people.
The tragedy here is all in the misinformation fake news of your post
TexChik · F
@AHugo sorry pal ... obama had 162 mass shootings under his watch ... AND the remnants of his corrupt FBI dropped the ball... yet again
AHugo · 61-69, M
@TexChik If you take each point and then see the history of each country involved,
TexChik · F
@AHugo I’m familiar with the history . He left out Mau Tse Tung . Gun registration is followed by confiscation ... and then a slaughter of the innocent . That’s not possible in a free and armed society . Guns weren’t responsible , apathy was .
therighttothink50 · 56-60, M
The main reason the USA has such a low home invasion rate percentage wise compared to those in Europe is the criminal knows he might encounter somebody with a gun in the home they are going to invade. Taking away guns is never about saving lives but almost always about creating a government authoritarian tyranny which goes unchecked.

TexChik · F
I enjoyed that ! Thank you . The Libby left wants to push this last shooting as a Trump issue ...when obama had 162 mass shootings on his watch and did nothing except blame guns ... not the deranged . And many of his appointees are still In The FBI and DOJ , who failed to act to stop this shooter even with a heads up .
hunkalove · 61-69, M
When I saw how happily and eagerly our soldier boys and girls ran off to invade two countries that were no threat to us I realized they could do that here too. We need guns to protect us from our own government. Sad but true.
@hunkalove Well, our government has nuclear weapons now. Guns being able to save us from the government might’ve been a viable concept when we were all crowds with muskets and the most we might’ve faced was someone with a cannon.
Jackaloftheazuresand · 26-30, M
@hunkalove Yep, see America's military isn't something that can be deterred by the rest of the world when it turns inward, nobody challenges NK after all and look how they treat their people
That’s just rhetoric put out by those who value their guns more than they do their children. That’s the bottom line, and it’s the reason mass shootings are going to keep happening in this country. You’re not fooling anyone (who has a brain) with that reactionary bullsh*t.
go ahead and bring all your guns to a drone, chemical and missile fight. That will be fun.
