I Do Not Support Gun Control

I consider myself a left-leaning moderate but my opposition to gun control is probably the most conservative view I have. Even though I don't like guns, I support people's rights to own them and don't believe gun control laws have ever really worked.

If you take the city of Chicago, the city with some of the strictest gun laws in the country, there have been over 400 murders so far this year with about 85% of them as a result of shootings. The point that should be taken is the city with the strictest gun laws has the most murders in the country. Criminals do not follow the law, including gun laws. Law abiding citizens need to be able to protect themselves from the criminals. People always want to blame the gun when someone is killed, however gun control advocates never blame the person who pulled the trigger. If we completely eliminated guns, murder would still happen. It would just be by a different weapon. Knives, machetes, etc. People who want to kill will kill. Just my two cents.
