@EarthlingWise why can’t we make our own independent decisions on everything like that, we do net need a unelected ( did you get a vote to put Ursula in her place, no, why should the French get more fish out of our waters than us, we’ve got parliament, we’ve got the House of Lords, we don’t need another government to run us,and we certainly don’t need that, that was the turning point
I see it as basically a good idea gone wrong, becoming an over-complicated, over-regulated, over-expensive, under-democratic, under-educated institution in its own right.
Instead of being a comparatively simple set of agreements to facilitate international trade, civil security, environmental protection, travel, and professional and cultural exchanges.
@ididntknow It is needed, we need common policies and agreements regarding energy, immigration, safety standards...we still have a lot of differences maintained.
It wasn't coherent, it started off as a coal and oil consortium, became a loose economic "zone", seemed to adopt pan European regional socialism, then became a tool of the neoliberal empire. And now it's kina wrecked!
