One would hope so. I understand the Ayatollah is in hiding. It MIGHT be possible for an interim government to uphold order inside that nation while the Ayatollah dodges Israeli assassins.

@4meAndyou Have to get their military on board with that.

@cherokeepatti What I've been hearing is that about 90% of the Iranian people hate the present government. The military comes FROM the people.

@4meAndyou I imagine so. I have met a lot of Iranians in the past 40 years and not one of them favors that government. There are still some hardliners who won’t mind their own damned business when a woman’s head is not covered but many of the people live in areas where that doesn’t happen a whole lot so they feel more free. I know what some of the hardliners were doing to the women and girls in school a few years ago sparked public outrage. I have watched videos on You Tube of Iranians in big shopping malls and other areas and not all of the women were wearing hijabs and it wasn’t common to see many of the wearing chadors either. There are some beautiful scenic areas with water falls from the mountains and tourist spots where they go to get out of the heat in the summer. I wish we had some places like that here. They had food stalls and seating areas for people to rest and drink tea when they get tired of walking, and they are right next to streams coming from the mountains.

@cherokeepatti I heard on the news that even though Iran is actually ancient Persia, only 20% of the population are now actually Persian, and the largest group is in the northwest. They are known as the Azeris. The Kurds are an Indo-European group, who live in the west, and they are persecuted by the government.
There are several more groups, including the Lurs, the Baloch from Balochistan in Pakistan, Arabs, and Turkmen.
The Ayatollah is an ethnic Persian, who became a Shia Muslim, and believes that all the people of Iran must be governed by Shia religious law.

@4meAndyou There are also Armenian Christians and Jews living in Iran. The area of Baluchistan extends in the area of what is now called Sistan in Iran. Germans who have Saxon heritage migrated from Baluchistan, before they they were called Scythians in an area of what is nowPakistan and Indian

@4meAndyou Even Iranians don't want that. A year ago, some woman was punished for not putting a scarf on her head.

@DanielsASJ You can now be arrested for walking your dog in over 20 cities in Iran.
