To the Americans who choose to block me:

It is your right and privilege not to have to read my opinions. But it is rather a waste of time to leave your killer closing Gotcha remarks, then block before I have read them. I guess thinking thngs through isnt your long suit. And I am sorry you elected Trump. But you did. Now own it..And have a nice day..🙂

I have never blocked your opinions, nor will I ever do that.
The great thing about Similar Worlds is it allows ALL points of view without favor to any particular one, (which is a rarity in political message boards.)
Conservatives don't come to places like this just to be around nothing but conservatives. We don't go to debate centers if we don't have someone to debate. Most liberal forums are the opposite. (Punishing those who love America.)

I'll respect the culture of this forum and read everything relevant that you have to say.

@Reason10 I know a lot of Americans I like personally. And many of them love America too. But they do recognize that America isnt perfect in itself and do contribute to their vision of what makes a better America. As we seem to be in agreement at this point, maybe its best we dont go into detail as to what a better America is. But I hope we can agree that less intolerance and hate is a start..😷

@whowasthatmaskedman No one says America is perfect. Just because it was the greatest experiment in liberty, self governance, capitalism and the rule of law doesn't mean there aren't flaws. With all the imperfections this country has, people from all over the world still want to emigrate here.
America probably will never be perfect, mostly because that may be impossible. Certainly it would be impossible for everyone to agree on the definition of perfect.
So there's some wiggle room.

@Reason10 Sadly some of your compatriots disagree with both of us and claim that not only is America perfect. But its way is the only path to follow. Politically I have no interest ib what path is followed. Just in how the journey gets paid for.😷

@whowasthatmaskedman Interestingly enough (and this comes from libertarian/conservative Ben Shapiro), the Alt Right and the left wing both utilize identity politics to make their claims. The Alt Right claims everything good about America is due to white men of European origin. The left claims everything that is wrong with America is the fault of white men of European origin.
Personally, I prefer the science of Economics to hash out and explain a lot of history. It is probably a greater barometer of human activity than any other concept.
(You're thinking my college psychology classes were a real hoot. There was a lot of biting my tongue in a lot of those courses.)

@Reason10 OK! Common ground..And you know what? I will go further. Both Ben Shapiro (I am familiar with him) and the left are correct. It takes both sides to produce real progress of a society or civilization.. Somr bright spark invents the steam engine. Then for a century it is incorpoarted into the next big thing. Exploration and settlement. Now whether thats good or bad depends on who and where you are. But thats where the psychology comes in. Respect is a psychological factor. Do you leave the tribes alone,? Trade with them? Or just consider the gold in them thar hills? That is the question man the philosopher has to answer.
I am deliberately not answering it. Because each answer has a cost for the future. Less profit, equals less wealth equals less drive to explore further equals less progress.
On the other hand, more of everything would be left now..
Thats why I use the economics to keep score of progress..To see how much of the wealth does actually get into the hands of the people who benefit most from the progress.😷
