The Crisis at the US Borders - Compromise in sight but probably will be rejected

The Republican party seems not to want to fix the problem they identified! When does a 'victory' in politics get celebrated? Is getting Trump re-elected more important than solving your country's problems one at a time?

Getting trump reelected is paramount to the maga cult.
Their preference is for the economy to tank, the market to crash, a hundred million immigrants gain access from the south and 30% of people under 60 should succumb to fentyal poisoning.
That will set the stage for trump to do his maga thing. Or so he would lead the cult to believe...

@whowasthatmaskedman I'll just insert here: When Barack Obama was elected, I shook my head in wonder at his bravery to stand up for people who have been 'subjugated' due to economic attitudes.
I figured that he would be assassinated before his term was up (Kudos to the Secret Service). However, with the lack of support he had from Congress there was NO domestic Government (for 8 years) beyond what he could assert by his Executive office. That was 8 years of him trying and then having (most) gains reversed by his successor. My point: You folks who stymied Obama wasted an opportunity to set your country on an even-keel for all Americans. IMO: "America First" simply means "Grab it while you can and damn the future."

@whowasthatmaskedman it will always baffle me as to why people will wilfully follow a charismatic despot as far down as the despot chooses to go.
Elections and the law is how it is supposed to be dealt with. The law is slow and many, many voters are selectively ignorant. So...we get what we deserve.

@JollyRoger I watched from a distance as he took his centrepiece universal health cover from office to office to get support and had to trade pieces of it away to every senator and congressman with a 'special interest" in healh care and insurance until it was the frankestein is became. But he got it there, with the hope it could be improved on later. And his innovative campaign funding made him the first nominee in a long time to buck the big donor power broker system. A trick he taught Trump. who is destroying the Republicans with it. Kudos to the man. He was a better President than America deserved..😷

@Carla Desperation makes people so strange things. In the case of America you have the religious heritage not found in many Western Developed nations, plus the disallusioned Vietman generation and the sense of entitlement that filteres through to the people from Americas world leadership. I know there is more besides. But it all makes a rich soup of personality that makes Americans the sometimes brilliant, sometimes thicker than two short planks people they are. If I had to pick a worst flaw (and I realise we all have flaws) it would be that so many Americans "know" by faith, rather than search for meaning by learning. The constant search for knowledge is where progress lies..😷

@whowasthatmaskedman You are a perceptive person!! I was a policeman in my career. Watching good people blindly follow others into destruction tightens my throat. It's 'always too late' when they see the reality of it.
