in these 'peculiar' times could democracy be under threat

we live in very peculiar - changing times and i sometimes think could democracy be under threat here in the uk? some people i spoke to already think that britain is being controlled by ''external foreign powers'', who are trying to bring about communism in britain.

look at the election and campaign processes and democracy is always under threat of being converted into an autocracy almost instantly. Add to that the legislature's ability to cede its authority to agencies under the control of the autocrats.

With the extra edge of the legislature ceding power to agencies under control of the autocrat, we in the US are within one election cycle of a 15% minority having autocratic control of the entire US.
