I Am A Victim Of The Bad Economy

I have a dream. A dream that someday I will be able to walk into a business, (nothing fancy or grand) and ask to speak to the manager. After a reasonable wait the manager greets me and we sit down and I am able to introduce myself, hand him my resume, see them take a look at it, relate a little with them personally, ask about a job, finish the conversation on our own terms (no interruptions), and then, maybe a week later give or take a few days, they call me back say either. 1. sorry I do not have a job for you at this time but please try back in a month or 2. OR 2. I do have a position you might want, please come back for follow up interview.

But no, not in America. Apparently this dream has long since died. Apparently this is no longer possible in this forlorn country. It is a tragic thing to live here.

They just don't call at all.

@Selfexpression Right, and you're lucky if you can even get a human being on the phone. Some places refuse to let you speak to human resources. Some places do not even have an answering machine. If you walk into the business and ask for a job interview they act like you are crazy, wasting their time or some homeless piece of shit.
