Uh, violence IS the normal for the textbook human. Without civilized parenting (which a lot of sperm donors today don't even bother with) a human can quickly become a vicious wild animal. Without a moral compass, humans with technology (Nazis, Soviets, Towelhead Islamist fundamentalists) proved to be VERY dangerous.
Peace is not the natural human trait, even as the best Presidents (Reagan and Trump) had brought the world closest to peace. It is a dangerous world, Dorothy, and there are evil witches and demons everywhere.
As far as Americans needed wars to continue for economic reasons, at one time that would have been entirely correct. When FDR inherited a mild contraction and his socialist policies expanded it to a full out Great Depression, all he could think of was getting the country into a major WAR as a way of spending this country out of a crisis he mostly caused.
And the war he got us into did pretty much that. He LIED to get us into that war, by the way.
The last time the federal budget was balanced was in 1969, when Nixon was president and we were in the middle of the Vietnam War, so you might have been able to make the case about the military industrial complex. Of course, the economy of the Sixties soared NOT because of the war but because of the Kennedy tax cuts, which expanded everyone's prosperity. In 69, Defense was the largest item on the federal budget.
I can remember the mid Seventies, with the Nixon/Ford/KKKarter INFLATION making all lives miserable. I can remember people saying this country needs another good WAR to bail us out.
Reagan proved that war wasn't necessary to expand the economy. His tax cuts created the greatest economy of all time.
Of course, budget deficits skyrocketed because Nixon signed the Budget And Impoundment Control Act, which put Entitlement spending on automatic increase each year, and that's why Entitlements are now 70 percent of the federal budget, and it's why we're having to borrow TRILLIONS just to pay the tab for welfare moochers 10 years ago. Our grandchildren will be paying taxes for our welfare moochers today.
