Biden the best Labor President since FDR

• First President to stand the picket line with Union workers while the other guy said they should be fired

• Antitrust enforcement has surged. Monopoly busting has begun with the FTC, the Antitrust Division of Justice, and the NLRB without much notice in the press.

• Efforts to form unions have been protected and encouraged.

• 800k new manufacturing jobs

• Wages increased 3.8%

He sold out the rail workers and fuck him forever for that.
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
@CountScrofula I'll look into that.
@CountScrofula not the whole story "...members of the Biden administration, including the transportation secretary, Pete Buttigieg, and labor secretary, Marty Walsh, who stepped down on 11 March, lobbied the railroads, telling them it was wrong not to grant paid sick days.". https://www.theguardian.com/business/2023/may/01/railroad-workers-union-win-sick-leave

He got them sick pay. Things aren't always as they seem.
@CountScrofula fuck the rail workers. lol

@JonLosAngeles66 You legislate a pro-management deal, you sell out the workers. Simple as. Correcting the most egregious error in post because of how bad it made him look doesn't change the action.

Biden -talks- big game over labour and may earnestly believe he's an ally. I'm a union executive, former union president, current grievance officer. This guy is a boss, not an ally.

And I do believe he's the most pro-labour President you've had in a very long time. That's just a pretty sorry state of affairs.

@LillyOLilly Yeah they aren't needed you can do it yourself I'm sure
CountScrofula · 41-45, M
@Burnley123 The very short version is they were legislated back to work without paid sick leave, which was the #1 issue surrounding the strike (not the only one).

The system the railways use called precision scheduled railroad is kind of a disaster and it works on very, very lean crews with extremely precise scheduling that never works out. So people need to be available all the time when the schedules invariably get fucked up. If you're out sick, the system falls apart. People could get disciplined for being sick.

This was corrected in post by the rat fuck labour minister (notably someone who was part of a cartel that artificially increased bread prices in Canada) lobbying to get sick days to salve over the open wound on Biden's pro-union credentials.
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
@CountScrofula Thanks. I've been reading about it too and this is a shit move by his administration.
CountScrofula · 41-45, M
@Burnley123 Yeah. Absolutely get why he did it. The political calculus was that a rail strike would be disastrous, and he had to get a bill through fast to legislate the contract, and that required playing ball with Republicans.

But I also don't care. There are principles you don't violate.
CountScrofula · 41-45, M
Hey the right wingers hearting my responses here are no friends of labour you're just contrarian dipshits who can't understand you can be more left than Joe Biden.
Teirdalin · 31-35
That's pretty screwed.
@CountScrofula And there are no violations of principles by doing what is best in the interest in the big picture.. That is why negotiations in a union is called "BARGAINING". You ask for the world and meet someplace in between. I have been union all of my life and I know the drill...........so do you....despite the whining of what you didn't get this time around. You wanted paid sick leave....but have the best healthcare plan on the planet........other than congress. A railroad pension is so good it beats Social Security. Your hourly rate is about double what most skilled trades union workers make. So you didn't get paid sick leave.....................THIS TIME. Wah!!! Bargain for it next contract.

@CountScrofula Conservatives are the best friends of labor and the worker the United STates has ever seen.
Conservative tax cuts BROUGHT IN HIGH PAYING MANUFACTURING JOBS, causing other employers to have to raise their pay in order to compete for workers. Conservative Republicans keep gasoline prices down, (for the paycheck to paycheck worker who drives to his job.) Conservative Republicans keep inflation down so the average worker's wages will buy more.
Conservatives like LEGALLY ELECTED PRESIDENT TRUMP keep foreign wars to a minimum, thus preventing a military draft that threatens every 18 year old fresh out of high school.
DemoNAZIS have done exactly the OPPOSITE. They are the mortal ENEMY of the American worker.
