Well, you'd be controlled, forced to work at some job you hated, have little money and less to buy, but you'd have cradle-to-grave food, housing, medical--possibly not meeting typical Western standards--and potential free travel to all Communist countries, depending upon the current political climate.

Well back in my day communists put us to work at a penny a day 20 hour shifts no days off for years at a time and we loved it!
